Common questions

Things owners and administrators usually ask first.

Is ShearLogic an official TDLR product? +

No. ShearLogic is an independent tool that submits reports to TDLR on your behalf using the same channels available to schools today. We're not affiliated with the agency.

What does my SIS need to export? +

A standard CSV with one row per student per report type. We accept exports from every major cosmetology SIS we've tested, and we publish a column-by-column template if you'd rather build the file in Excel or Sheets.

What happens if a row fails validation? +

Nothing leaves your account. We highlight the offending cells with the specific rule they violated — wrong license format, missing reason code, hours over the daily cap. Fix inline, re-validate, then submit.

Can multiple campuses share one account? +

Yes. Each campus is its own workspace with its own license number, reporting history, and access list. Owners switch between them from the campus picker in the header.

How is my student data secured? +

Bank-grade encryption in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256), per-campus access scoping, and an annual SOC 2 Type II audit. The full security overview is in the Security section above.

What happens after my free trial? +

Nothing automatic. We'll prompt you to choose a plan when the trial ends; if you don't, your account stays read-only — your submission history is never deleted.

Security

Student records get the same care as your bank statements.

Cosmetology school data is sensitive: names, addresses, license numbers, hours toward certification. We treat it accordingly — encryption, scoped access, and an independent audit on the calendar.

Bank-grade encryption, end to end. Every byte is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.3 and at rest with AES-256. Keys are rotated on a fixed schedule and managed by a dedicated KMS — the same standard your payroll provider uses.
Scoped access, per campus. Each campus is its own workspace with its own access list. Owners decide who can upload, who can submit, and who can only view the archive.
Row-level audit log, kept indefinitely. Every submission — who uploaded which file, what was validated, when it was sent to TDLR — is timestamped and stored. Hand the receipt to your auditor without opening a filing cabinet.
Independently certified. Our controls are reviewed annually by an outside auditor against the AICPA SOC 2 framework. Report available under NDA.
